Hello,
Good to hear from you guys, I like your site and I have been a speedway fan for many years so I have put up a link to your site from my links
page which should help people find you and increase your status on google searches. Kustom Bitz http://www.kustombitz.com.au
I am 41 and dad took me to my first speedway at Avlon in outer Melb when I was about 10 years old or so, we used to frequent the Bendigo show grounds on boxing
day for many years and dad has always followed the Easter Trail down to Warrnambool although he is 71 now and he a slowed down quite a bit.
I do like to work in with other internet sites in Oz, I can help you out with content where I can. There a quite a few speedway guys running our 4 barrel manifolds
car classes.
Keep up the good work,
regards
Ron.

Wow, what a blast from the past! ,
I found a couple of old photos, the late Jimmy Keats, and Kathy McQinn. I Googled Kathy, to no avail, then tried Doug, and found your site!
I was taken to Windsor, Westmead (was it actually at Northmead?) and then beloved Liverpool, from only a few months old. To this day, the smell of petrol fumes and
burning rubber make me smile.
I remember when we would put up blankets on the wire fence at Liverpool, and ducked as the cars went around to dodge the dirt.
When the bike track was moved to the infield area, which stopped so many of them hitting the wall. So many names sprang out from the gallery to me - Johny Stewart,
Howard Revell, Gary Rush, Sid Hopping, Brian Callaghan and the little Gem, Brooke Tatnell, George Tatnell, Gordon Smee, Paul Ash, Bryan Purssell, Gene Welch,
Ed Wilbur, AJ Foyt,(and an American who's name started with M who went on to great things, cannot remember his name!)
Barry Pinchbeck, Jim Airey. I was there for the Rush/Hopping fight.
Somewhere I have a couple of autograph books full, but as I started collecting them when little more than a toddler, and would ask anyone in overalls to sign, half
are probably pit crew! I remember standing around 44 gallon drums of fire in the car park of Liverpool after the crowd was gone.
I can still remember being told about Doug McQuinn's accident in the pits, and getting a post card from them from Fiji after he recovered.
I can also remember going out to see Jimmy Keats' car in the little Service Station at Wallacia, which was in the country back then,it seemed.
After a race meet (I think) he and his friend Arthur Dwyer hit a tree going up to Warragamba, and Jimmy died. Arthur worked with my father (I think) and
when he married some time later, I was his flower girl.
But the Speedway - what a wonderful childhood experience! We did go to Sydney, but I only remember once, and Grandville once, but I preferred Liverpool. And how sad
it was when it closed. Thank you for your site, and the memories it brought back for me. I would love to know how Kathy and Doug got on in life. When I can scan them,
I will send on the pic of Kathy (which she gave me, and has a dedication on the back - taken by EB Cullen, Club Photos, Ranwick) and the one of Jimmy and his FJ stock
car to you. As I remember it, it was British Racing Green. It has on it's mud guard - Drivers M. Pezzutti and J. Keats.

Wow!
I just checked out your website "IT'S AWESOME" I actually gave all of our photo albums to a trustee of our venue.
Morris Park Speedway has been around since the late 50's early 60's. The land was originally owned by a farmer, Jack Morris and was sold to
Morris Park Motor Sports Club. This club was the largest motor sport club in NSW at one stage with over 350 members (both bikes and cars).
They use to have to hire out Dubbo Civic Centre for presentation nights to hold members and their families.
Your site is a fantastic homage to our sport. There were drivers from Liverpool and other tracks that use to come out to Dubbo to race at Morris Park & Minore
Speedways and some of the old photos are wonderful.
(Minore is still there today, but stubble grass grows on the infield, the wall is partial and the old tin shed is worn and falling But still there.
We originally had the wooden wall, two dams on the infield, an oiled straight and a kidney shaped track. (OHS wouldve had a field day if around back then)
Out here (in Narromine where I'm from) there is one of the old toranas (LC) sitting on 2 steel beams on a friends shed wall.
We use to park our cars around the track (utes reversed) to sit in and watch the awesome racing of that era.
I'll contact the trustee to see if he still has the old albums/ scrapbooks and have them put onto a disc (if possible) and send them to you.
Keep up the great work. It's truly amazing. I cant wait for my husband to return from work (early enough) one evening and show him. It's brilliant.
I hope the photos I took are of good use to you.
Yours In Speedway,
Leanne Anning

Dear Aussie speedway,
I only heard about your web site today,
When informed by my sister Lesley.
It has come to my attention, that you have forgotten the Best Lady's Stock car Driver that ever graced a speedway track Kathy McQuinn, She won every lady’s
stock car championship ever held at Windsor Speedway, as well as all the lady’s championship races at Liverpool Speedway.
In fact, She past away undefeated, and no women and not to many men either, could ever out drive her.
Also she was the ONLY women to race with the men, and they knew that they were in trouble when she had them in her sites.
Doug McQuinn raced as well, but he never was a patch on Kathy.
In case your wondering who I am, my name is Glenn McQuinn, Kathy’s son.
Hopefully you will be able to correct your minor mistake. My Mum was the BEST and should be recognized for what she did.
Thanks Very Much, all the best wishes to & yours.
Thanks Once again Glenn McQuinn
P.S You brought back some GREAT Memories, Very Good Site .........

Hi,
Thanks for the Speedway News it is Great to read.
All the young and up and coming drivers were NOT even Born when I first left OZ to come to the States and Drive the Midget's and Sprint's
At that time in the 60's there were not Roll Cages or Wings. What will it be Like in another 50 years ??.
Last week I found out that it is SAFER Driving Race Cars than walking up 3 Steps to the Front door of my House.
As I was going up the steps I slipped and put a 6" gash in my forehead (which went down to my scull, and nearly hit my Brain)!!and I never saw so much
Blood rush out,
The Ambulance rushed me to Hospital and STRAIGHT into Surgery and I received 30 + Stitches, which come out today.
Keep the Speedway news coming, THANKS.
Keep the Speedway news coming
THANKS.
Sincerely,
Rob, from the Golden Oldie's ERA

Hi,
Congratulations on a great speedway web site.
I was having a look at the photos and noticed that the photo of Sammy Swindell on row 3 has wrong information with it.
It says at PCR in 1983 but I think it was actually 2004.
