Dished up to the large crowd
on hand at TPCR on Jan 9th.

Round 11 of the sprintcar track championship and point were up for grabs as Craig Bradys lead is dwindling.

With the ambient temperature hovering around the 38 degrees celcius mark it was both hot on and off the track. There were five x 10 lap heat races with wins going to Ben Atkinson, James Thompson, Mark Blyton & Mitchell Dumesny.

During heat two

Jason Bates destroyed his new sprinter when he tangled with Skip Jackson coming out of turn two. Jasons crew cheif is his Dad Greg who was a top line driver at Liverpool City Raceway in the 1980s, Greg retired from racing when he himself barrell rolled his super modified down the Parramatta back straight on Sunday afternoon.

The trophy dash events went to Grant Tunks & Tim Shaffer

The B Main saw Warren Ferguson take the win over Jeremy Cross & Taylor Johnson

Ian Madsen and Ian Louden were on the front row as the big guns were a couple of rows behind. After the traditional four abreast lap to thank the large crowd the field formed into rows of two.

Then came the 30 lap Tyrepower Main

24 starters to take the Arthuer Cowan green flag. The front row consisted of Darryl Campbell and Roddy Bell Bowen.

The TPCR red clay surface had glazed over due to the intense summer heat which had been around 41 degrees Celsius most of the day. This saw a dusty slick racing surface. The track curators and staff had done everything they could to avoid such a racetrack. But we cant always be helped with the weather.

The Green flag fell as Campbell shot away from Bell Bowen Blyton & Atkinson, Back in the pack, Shaffer and Kell Linigan were having a great battle, on lap four Bell Bowen spun in turn one as Lynton Jeffery put a pass on him bringing on the caution lights.

The restart saw Campbell again scoot away from Blyton & Ian Madsen who was closing fast. Taylor Johnson then brought on the yellows as she spun on lap nine.

The restart again saw Campbell shot away with Blyton hot on his heels, the a lap later Madsen passed Blyton to get into secon spot. Lap fourtenn and Blyton spun then was hit by ian Louden who rolled the Blackshaws Motor Body Repairs special as Tim Shaffer slammed into him also. Loudens cars was left on its side as Ian climbed out of the car due to a small fuel leak, the TPCR crash crew monitored this and were ready for any fire. Once the car was put on all four a fire erupted but was very quickly extinguished. Blyton and Shaffer were able to restart.

Lap 10 and yet another restart, Campbell from Madsen and Jeffery as a fast closing Dumesny was coming like a frieght train with no brakes. Micth got past Jeffery and adsen on an outside run and had his sights set on Campbell.

Lap after lap the lead changed many times between Dumesny and Campbell, ON lap 23 Jeffery than came to a halt on the back straight with differential problems and needed to be towed from the track. At the same time both Skip Jackson and Brodie Tulloch QLD were shown the mechanical failure flag as they both had muffler issues.

The line up was now, Campbell, Dumesny & Madsen again up front and it was a dash to the finish. WOW what a race up the pointy end, these guys were going at it three wide at times, Madsen was way up high chasing moisture as the other were down low on the track, Madsen took the lead with two laps to then went to high which allowed Campbel to snatch the lead back. As the chequered flag fell it was Darryl Campbell over Ian Madsen and Mitchell Dumesny.

Next weekend at TPCR we see the return of World Series Sprintcars which could see at least 5 American stars on the card, (TO BE CONFIRMED)
